Meryem Uzerli is a Turkish-German actress and model best known for playing Hürrem Sultan’ın “Muhteşem Yüzyl”, one of the most popular Turkish television programs of all time. She made her debut in the Turkish entertainment sector with this role, which has since earned her countless prizes and acclaim. Meryem, however, began her career as an actor with German TV series and short films.
Having a Turkish father named Hüseyin and a German mother named Ursula, Meryem was born Meryem Sarah Uzerli in Kassel, Germany, on August 12, 1983. She was raised in Berlin and Istanbul. Canan, one of her older sisters who eventually became a jazz musician, and her two older brothers raised her. Dany and Christopher, Meryem’s older step brothers, are products of her mother’s first marriage.
Meryem attended the “Freie Waldorf School” in Kassel, one of a number of German kindergartens that emphasizes the arts in education. Meryem started showing interest in performing there. Later, she pursued acting studies and even participated in a number of theater performances.
When Meryem attended Hamburg’s “Schauspiel Studio Frese,” she was just 17 years old, making her the acting school’s youngest enrollee. She studied acting and theater for the following three years. Meryem worked a few small roles in German productions after graduating before getting a call for a project in Turkey. Meryem relocated to Istanbul in 2010, where she started her legitimate acting career.
Uzerli announced that she had dumped her partner, Can Ateş, after finding out that he had cheated after departing Turkey. She said that she was expecting a child and that she wished to give birth to it. The girl was born on February 10, 2014, according to her. There was a second girl born on January 8, 2021. Uzerli is also a model who has been in commercials for companies like Elidor as well as on the covers of Turkish editions of Elle, Marie Claire, and InStyle.
Meryem had numerous short appearances while living in Germany. She portrayed Madeline in the 2008 film Menage à Trois, Anna in the 2009 film The Line, Mara in the 2010 film Lover’s Guide, & a stewardess in the 2010 film Journey of No Return, for which she won a special jury prize at the 47th annual Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. She played the lead character of Britta in the German television series Inga Lindström & appeared in just one episode of the Notruf Hafenkante & ZDF, Ein Fall für zwei series.
In the Turkish historical fiction drama The Magnificent Century, Meryem received a breakout role. She was chosen to play Hürrem Sultan, the Ottoman Sultan Süleyman “the Magnificent’s” primary concubine and legal wife.
Meryem had to leave the series regrettably in 2013 due to burnout. She relocated to Berlin for medical care. Vahide Perçin from episode 103 took her position. Meryem returned to the workforce towards the end of 2014 after taking a year off. She entered into a contract with “O3,” a Turkish production firm owned by “MBC Group,” one of the largest Arab TV networks.
In order to introduce her exclusive line of eye cosmetics, “MERYEM,” Meryem is working with professionals from the cosmetics sector. In particular for the North African market, she is seeking international distribution partners.
Meryem has also completed a few modeling jobs. She has appeared in numerous fashion publications, including Elle, Marie Claire,& InStyle. She has served as the spokesperson for a number of Turkish businesses, including Atasay jewelry, FLO shoes, and “Elidor” hair care. Meryem had also created advertisements for Sunsilk.

Some Muslim fundamentalist organizations denounced Meryem for her part in “The Magnificent Century” after she relocated from Germany to Turkey. They said it was loaded with nudity. She was branded as an unintended poster girl for Western pop culture by Islamists who were against it.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the prime minister of Turkey, attempted to get the performance banned in 2012 on the grounds that it was blasphemous and unfairly depicted Suleiman.
