Valeri Bure’s birth name is Valeri Vladimirovich “Val” Bure. But he is mostly known as Valeri Bure. He was born on 13 June 1974. He is now 48 years old (as of 2022). Her birthplace is Moscow, Russia. At the age of 9, his parents separated. Then his father took all the responsibility for him. Valeri completed his schooling at Chatsworth Charter high school. Then he finished his graduation from Public US State University. Besides his study, he started playing hockey in National Hockey League (NHL).
Career
At the age of 17, Valeri played three games with HC CSKA Moscow of the Soviet Championship League. In 1991, he joined the Spokane Cheifs of the Western Hockey League. After that, he became the first Russian hockey player in the league’s history. In 1991-92, his first season in the WHL, he recorded 49 points in 53 games for the Chiefs. He was praised by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau for being a good skater. Bure recorded 298 points in three seasons with Spokane and stands fourth on the Cheifs all-time scoring list.
Valeri made his debut internationally with the Russian National Junior Team in World Junior Championship in 1994. He became the leading scorer with the bronze medal in six games and was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team. In 1996, he appeared in one game at the inaugural World Cup of Hockey. At the CSKA Moscow tournament, he scored one goal and Russia advanced to the gold medal game. After the tournament, he returned for the 2002 Salt Lake Games and scored a goal.
Russia won the bronze medal in the tournament. In 2010, Valeri returned to the ice as a contestant on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s figure skating reality show “Battle of the Blades” in the second season. Ekaterina Gordeeva was the partner of Valeri. They won the competition and got $100,000 US dollars. The pair donated the prize to Compassion Canada.
