Early life
A Filipino named John Castillo Soberano and an American named Jacqulyn Elizabeth Hanley welcomed Liza into the world on January 4, 1998 in Santa Clara, California, in the United States. Both the Philippines and the United States have granted Liza citizenship. Liza’s grandparents raised her in Visalia, California, after her parents divorced. She moved in with her father and family in Manila when she was ten years old.
Leilani Sue Elizabeth Osorno and Kaycee Logan are her two sisters, and Justin David Soberano, Nathaniel Larry Osorno, Dustin David Nguyen, and Jaden Parker Nguyen are her four brothers. Liza underwent the Christian initiation ceremonies, and on July 24, 2015, she and her brother Justin David converted to Roman Catholicism. The same year, she graduated from St. Patrick’s School in Quezon City with a degree in high school.
Prior to enrolling in law school, she was interested in pursuing a psychology degree. However, due to her busy showbiz schedule, she decided to enroll in an online business management course at Southville International School affiliated with Foreign Universities. She has stated that she would like to enroll in a course whenever it is possible and has not yet given up on the dream of studying psychology.

Liza, who was just 12 years old, began receiving modeling offers for print commercials after moving to Manila. Her first appearance on TV was as a cameo as Barangay Audience in the longest-running noontime television variety program in the Philippines, “Eat Bulaga! ‘ in 2010. When she was 13 years old, a talent scout noticed her and brought her to Ogie Diaz, a Filipino actor, comedian, and show business reporter. Liza’s current talent manager is the latter.
Liza’s early difficulties in the entertainment industry included her inability to speak Tagalog. She was urged by her talent manager to learn the language well in order to land good roles in both cinema and television. At the age of 13, Liza made her acting debut in the episode of the Philippine fantasy-drama, comedy television series “Wansapanataym” called “Mac Ulit-Ulit” that aired in October 2011.
Liza and Enrique Gil co-starred in the 2017 romantic comedy drama movie My Ex and Whys. Cathy Garcia Molina, who had previously collaborated with her on the movie Forevermore, served as its director. The movie, which debuted in February 2017 and brought in $31.5 million on its opening day, earned her the GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Award for Box Office Queen.
Liza announced in May 2017 that she would play the comic book heroine Darna in the upcoming 2019 film version. She made the decision to leave the role on April 4, 2019, nevertheless, due to an injury she sustained while filming the primetime drama Bagani. When Matti first approached Angel Locsin about the part, she declined due to scheduling conflicts.
